Explains how a Rider can request permanent deletion of their OkayCab account, and what happens to Wallet balance, Coins, and data. Owned & Operated by OkayCab, a Partnership Firm (Partners: Shivam Kumar, Ayush Verma, Prince Yadav, Nigam Yadav).
1. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to every Rider (Passenger) who wishes to permanently delete their OkayCab account, and explains the process, conditions, and consequences of such deletion, including what happens to Wallet balance, Coins, and personal data. This policy must be read together with the Rider Terms & Conditions and the Rider Privacy Policy.
2. How to Request Account Deletion
A Rider may request permanent deletion of their account by raising a request through: (a) the "Delete Account" option within the App's Settings/Support section, or (b) a support ticket / written request to the Company's Support team.
The Rider must confirm their identity (registered mobile number/email/OTP) while raising the deletion request, to prevent unauthorised or fraudulent deletion requests.
The Rider may state the reason for deletion (optional), which helps the Company improve its services.
3. Conditions to Be Cleared Before Deletion
Before a deletion request can be processed, the following must be true of the Rider's account:
No Ride currently in progress or pending completion/confirmation at the time of the request.
No open dispute, complaint, or investigation pending involving the Rider.
No outstanding dues (for example, a pending Fare or cancellation fee) payable by the Rider to the Company or to a Host. Any outstanding amount will be deducted from the Rider's Wallet balance before the refund process, or must be settled separately if the Wallet balance is insufficient.
If any of the above conditions are not met, the Company may place the deletion request on hold and inform the Rider of the pending item(s) that must be resolved first.
4. Verification & Processing Timeline
The Company will acknowledge a deletion request within 48 hours of receipt.
Once all conditions in Section 3 are cleared, the Company will process the deletion within 7 to 30 working days, depending on verification requirements and any pending settlements.
The Rider will be notified via SMS/email/in-app notification once the account has been successfully deleted.
5. Treatment of Wallet Balance on Deletion
Any Wallet balance that the Rider has personally recharged (via Razorpay or SuperAdmin credit) will be refunded at the time of account deletion — this is the only circumstance under which such balance is refunded, as per the Rider Terms & Conditions.
The refund will be processed to the Rider's registered bank account/UPI after due verification, within the timeline communicated by the Company, and may be subject to deduction of any outstanding dues as per Section 3.
The Company may request additional bank/KYC verification before releasing the refund, to prevent fraud.
Any Wallet balance received by way of a Rider-to-Rider transfer is treated the same as recharged balance for the purpose of this refund at closure.
6. Treatment of Coins
Any unused OkayCab Coin balance in the Rider's account will be permanently forfeited upon account deletion. Coins have no cash value and are not refunded, converted, or paid out under any circumstances, including at account closure, as per the Coin Policy in the Rider Terms & Conditions.
7. Treatment of Personal Data
Upon successful deletion, the Rider's profile — name, mobile number, email ID, saved addresses, and profile photo — will be removed from active systems and will no longer be visible or usable on the Platform.
Certain data may be retained in archived/backup form for the period legally required for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or regulatory compliance purposes, after which it will be securely deleted or anonymised.
Data relevant to any ongoing legal proceeding, government investigation, or dispute existing at the time of the deletion request will be retained until such matter is resolved, notwithstanding account deletion.
8. Retention of Ride & Transaction History
Ride history and Wallet/Coin transaction records may be retained by the Company even after account deletion, in anonymised or aggregated form, or as required for statutory/tax record-keeping, dispute resolution, or safety investigations relating to Rides completed before deletion.
9. Irrevocability of Deletion
Once an account deletion request is fully processed, it is permanent and cannot be reversed or undone. All Ride history, saved preferences, and account settings associated with that account will be permanently lost.
10. Re-Registration After Deletion
A former Rider who wishes to use OkayCab again after account deletion must register as a new Rider and will not be able to recover any previous account history, Wallet balance, or Coins from the deleted account.
11. Company-Initiated Deletion / Deactivation
Separately from a Rider-initiated request, the Company may suspend, deactivate, or delete a Rider account on its own initiative for breach of the Rider Terms & Conditions, safety concerns, fraud, prolonged inactivity, or as required by law, following the process (and with the same consequences for Wallet and Coins) described in this policy, to the extent applicable.
12. Continuing Liability After Deletion
Deletion of a Rider's account does not extinguish any liability or obligation that arose while the account was active — including any unpaid Fare, cancellation fee, or dispute relating to Rides completed before deletion. The Rider remains responsible for such matters even after the account is deleted.
13. Company's Right to Delay or Deny Deletion
The Company reserves the right to delay or decline an account deletion request where necessary to complete a fraud investigation, comply with a legal hold or government request, resolve an ongoing dispute, or recover outstanding dues from the Rider. The Rider will be informed of the reason for such delay or denial.
